AFFORDABLE UPGRADE SOLUTION FOR NEW & EXISTING HOMES
DESCRIPTION:
Aerogyp PLATINUM is a strong, rigid, lightweight expanded Platinum insulation sheet bonded to Gypsum plasterboard. The plasterboard has tapered edges and a smooth internal surface ready for decoration. The Aerogyp PLATINUM system provides a vapour check eliminating interstitial condensation.

APPLICATION:
Aerogyp Platinum is a dry lining system, providing a high level of thermal insulation with a finished fire resistant internal surface ready for decoration.
The system is a perfect partner for Platinum Cavity Fill, allowing U values as low as 0.15Wm2K to be achieved, comfortably meeting passive house standards. It is also ideally suited to upgrading of existing buildings.

GENERAL REMARKS:

Fire Resistance:
The exposed face of Aerogyp PLATINUM is considered “Class O” in accordance with the Building Regulations. It may be used on the internal surface of buildings of every occupancy group. Continuous timber battens or plaster ribbons are fixed at the top and bottom of each Aerogyp PLATINUM panel to provide a sound fixing for the panel.

Condensation:
Aerogyp PLATINUM has a high vapour resistivity factor of 20 to 40. This combined with the bonded plasterboard, minimizes the risk of interstitial condensation occurring.

Services:
Aerogyp PLATINUM must not be used in contact with electrical cables or hot water pipes, (max.80 C). Electric cables in contact with the Platinum insulation must be enclosed in a suitable conduit, e.g. rigid PVC. as outlined in the National Rules of the Electro Technical Council of Ireland (E.T. 101).

Durability:
Aerogyp PLATINUM is rot proof, dimensionally stable and will act as a long lasting effective insulant with no reduction of insulation value during the lifetime of the building.

SIZES:
Aerogyp Platinum is supplied in sheets 1200mm wide x 2438mm (8ft.) high or can also be supplied in sheets 2743mm (9ft.) high x 1200mm wide to suit higher ceilings.

INSTALLATION OPTION 1:

Cozy Board InstallersADHESIVE (Plaster Dabs)
Aerogyp PLATINUM can be fixed directly to dry, clean and plumb walls, using drywall adhesive (Fig. 1) When fixing to old walls, all paint, wallpaper or other finishes should be removed. Surfaces should be completely cleaned down, all loose material removed and made good. All except freshly plastered walls should be primed with a suitable emulsion primer, PVA or PVP diluted with 10 parts of water. Allow the primer to dry before applying the panels.

1. Cut Aerogyp PLATINUM panels 20mm short of floor to ceiling height.
2. Lay the panels face down on the floor, raised on battens to aid lifting the panel.
3. Place dabs of drywall adhesive on the Platinum insulation surface of the panel in a defined pattern (Fig. 1).
4. Apply Aerogyp PLATINUM to the wall, using wedges to lift the ceiling. Apply pressure to the face of the panel with a clean wooden float to bed the mortar against the wall.
5. At external angles, cut back the Platinum insulation on one of the panels so it overlaps the edge of the adjacent panel.
6. Each Aerogyp panel must be further secured using a minimum of 2 no. IAB approved “fire durable” mechanical fixings not less than 6mm dia. and penetrating 30mm into the concrete.
INSTALLATION OPTION 2:

MECHANICAL FIXING

1. Cut Aerogyp PLATINUM panels 20mm short of floor to ceiling height.
2. Apply Aerogyp PLATINUM to the wall, using wedges to lift the panel tightly up to the ceiling.
3. Apply a minimum of 9 no. IAB approved “fire durable” mechanical fixings to each panel.
4. At external angles, cut back the Platinum insulation on one of the panels so it overlaps the edge of the adjacent panel.
5. Fill and tape the joints.

INSTALLATION OPTION 3:

BATTENS

Aerogyp PLATINUM can also be fixed to walls by nailing to pre-treated battens. This method is often used over walls that are uneven or out of plumb.

Cozy Board Installers1. Find the proudest point on the wall and using a straight edge and a level, mark the floor and ceiling directly above and below these points respectively.
2. Draw a line on the floor and ceiling to represent the finished plane of the battens. For example, if 38mm thick battens are used, move out 38 mm from the original marks, and draw lines through these new points.
3. Fix horizontal treated battens of suitable thickness to the wall at ceiling level and 20mm above floor level, aligned with the ceiling and floor lines.
4. Trim battens around door and window openings as shown. 5. Fix vertical battens at 600mm centres, packing out to get the faces of all battens on the same plane. Set out from openings.
6. Cut Aerogyp PLATINUM panels 20mm short of floor to ceiling height.
7. Fit the panels to the wall, using wedges to lift the panel tightly up to the ceiling. Fix the panels to the battens using galvanised plasterboard nails at 300mm centres.
8. At external angles, cut back the Platinum insulation on one of the panels so it overlaps the edge of the adjacent panel.
9. Fill and tape the joints.
ADVANTAGES:

• Recyclable.
• Long lasting effective thermal insulation for the life time of the building.
• Declared lambda value is not dependent on foil layers.
• Completely CFC and HCFC free with zero ODP.
• Easy to handle.
• No protective clothing or dust masks required.
• Forms a uniform insulation envelope.
• Remains rigid throughout the lifetime of the building.
• Easily cut to size.
• Reduces the cost of on site waste.
